Arizona Nutrition Professionals Learn About Beef

Lauren Maehling, Executive Director | January 28, 2021

Engaging with Arizona’s largest annual gathering of nutrition professionals, the Arizona Beef Council sponsored the 2020 Arizona Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ (AZAND) virtual conference. Made possible with funding from the Iowa Beef Industry Council, the sponsorship included hosting session speaker Carolyn Williams, PhD, RD, who presented “Anti-Inflammatory Diet 101: What is it and why does it matter?” to 80 participants. The presentation included beef recipe options to fit in the currently popular anti-inflammatory diet conversations and how lean beef can fit into the heart-healthy Mediterranean-style eating pattern

Via video greeting, ABC staff shared online beef and nutrition resources available for nutrition professionals to share with clients. Additionally, AZAND continues to share beef messages and resources on social media and in the association’s monthly e-newsletter, reaching an additional 991 readers monthly.

AZAND is Arizona’s membership organization for nutrition professionals and is an affiliate of the national Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. With nearly 70,000 members, the Academy is the nation’s largest organization of food and nutrition professionals and promotes optimal nutrition and well-being for all people (per eatrightarizona.org). The annual conference provides continuing education credits to AZAND’s more than 1000 members practicing in every community in Arizona. Most members are Registered Dietitians (RD) / Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN) or Dietetic Technicians, Registered (DTR). AZAND also includes allied health professionals and students in dietetics programs.
