Beef Up the Classroom Grant Program 2019-2021

Each year, the Arizona Beef Council is proud to offer the Beef Up the Classroom Grant Program to assist in incorporating beef into lesson plans. The Arizona Cattle Industry Research & Education Foundation continues to be a great partner in providing students an opportunity to learn about beef cookery through their generous funding of the program.
Arizona middle and high school culinary and agriculture teachers apply for the grants to purchase beef for their classroom lesson plans. The 2019-2021 school years both looked very different, with virtual learning happening widely across the state and unknown futures of in-classroom participation. Despite the challenges of these past two years, our Arizona teachers did not disappoint! Teachers were still able to teach with the grant monies in various ways. One teacher reported she purchased supplies, dropped those off at her students’ homes, and then taught the lesson online.
The program was also extended an extra year to give teachers a chance to use the grant money in a more normal school year. Nearly 1,500 students were reached with beef lessons and information about beef, thanks to this grant program.
