The Arizona Beef Council (ABC) attended the Arizona FFA State Leadership Conference on June 11, 2021 to take part in the career-focused trade show and present to agriculture education teachers about the Masters of Beef Advocacy (MBA) program provided by the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, a contractor to the beef checkoff. A booth with informational materials about beef was set up including the latest tabletop activity to engage with students as they came through the trade show. The activity is a metal sign with an image of a half of beef which shows each primal and the retail cuts which come out of that specific primal. Magnets in the shape of each primal sit over the top of the half of beef, allowing for interactions and conversations with conference attendees.

Tiffany Selchow, ABC Director of Social Marketing and Consumer Outreach, presented to agriculture teachers during a breakout session. She shared the importance of high school agriculture students sharing the story of agriculture and how valuable it is to share in a way consumers can understand. The MBA program, which now includes a teacher and classroom toolkit, is the perfect training program for students to use. Time was spent sharing the toolkits which make it even easier for the teacher to use the MBA program in their classrooms. This toolkit provides lesson plans, extension ideas, and more to continue the learnings from the program. The ABC is always pleased to work with educators to share the benefits of beef in a healthy, balanced diet, and cattle’s contribution to our global sustainability.
