Beef Nutrition Featured at Annual Arizona Nutrition Conference

Lauren Maehling, Executive Director | July 13, 2021

The Arizona Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ annual conference in June gathered 77 Arizona nutrition professionals to learn and share the latest on health and nutrition. The Arizona Beef Council (ABC) has been a proud sponsor for many years, staying involved in this year’s virtual meeting by supplying a session speaker and providing additional beef nutrition resources.

ABC hosted speaker Amy Myrdal Miller, “The Farmer’s Daughter,” for a session titled “Adapting and Adjusting: How to Become A Stronger, More Resilient Leader.” Weaving beef’s message of strength for healthy living throughout the presentation, Miller emphasized strategies and tips for developing and maintaining a strong, resilient growth mindset.

Speakers like Miller are made available through the Nutrition Seminar Program, offered to state beef councils by the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association as a contractor to the Beef Checkoff Program. In addition to the speaker sponsorship, ABC shared beef nutrition resources to conference attendees prior to, throughout, and after the meeting via AZAND’s e-newsletters, which are distributed to 829 nutrition professionals monthly, and a social media post.

AZAND is Arizona’s membership organization for nutrition professionals and is an affiliate of the national Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. With nearly 70,000 members, the Academy is the nation’s largest organization of food and nutrition professionals and promotes optimal nutrition and well-being for all people (per eatrightarizona.org). The annual conference provides continuing education credits to AZAND’s more than 1000 members practicing in every community in Arizona. Most members are Registered Dietitians (RD) / Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN) or Dietetic Technicians, Registered (DTR). AZAND also includes allied health professionals and students in dietetics programs.
