According to the 9-month study by Davidson M.H., et al., on the comparison of the effects of lean red meat vs lean white meat on serum lipid levels among free-living persons with hypercholesterolemia, 202 men and women participating showed that lean red meat can be part of a cholesterol-lowering diet.
It may be surprising, but lean beef has only one more gram of saturated fat than a skinless chicken breast and six times more zinc, three times more iron, and eight times more vitamin B12. Go figure...
