Spicy Portuguese Steak Kabobs
Ingredients
  • 1-1/2 lb boneless beef top sirloin steak, cut 1-1/4" thick
  • 1 red bell pepper, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • Seasoning:
    • 2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro
    • 2 tbsp olive oil
    • 2 tsp hot pepper sauce
    • 1 clove garlic, minced
    • 1/4-1/2 tsp crushed red pepper, optional
Preparation:
  • Cut beef into 1-1/4" pieces.
  • Combine seasoning ingredients and toss with beef.
  • Thread beef and bell pepper alternately onto six 10" metal skewers.
  • Place kabobs on grid over medium, ash-covered coals.
  • Grill uncovered for 9-11 minutes to medium rare to medium doneness, turning occasionally.
  • Season with salt, if desired.

Makes 6 servings.

To Broil:
  • Place kabobs on rack in broiler pan so surface is 3-4 inches from heat.
  • Broil 9-12 minutes for medium rare to medium doneness, turning once.
